Mt Maunganui Main Beach

Mt Maunganui Main Beach sits at the base of Mauao, Mt Maunganui’s iconic mountain, and runs for approximately 1km along to Moturiki (Leisure) Island. It is popular for surfing, swimming, boogie boarding and sunbathing. This golden sand beach is a fantastic place to relax and have fun for the whole family.

Omokoroa Beach

Just 20 minutes from Tauranga CBD is Omokoroa Beach which lies near the tip of the peninsula and is a safe swimming spot for young families. The beach features large pohutukawa trees for shade, picnic tables, BBQs, large playground and a wharf. Here you can see Mt Maunganui in the distance.

Papamoa Beach

Papamoa beach is 16km long and hugs the coastline between Mount Maunganui in the west and the Kaituna River in the east. It is a popular beach for surfing, swimming, kite surfing, wind surfing and sunbathing. This white sand beach is a popular destination for holidaymakers and family alike.

Pilot Bay Beach

Pilot Bay Beach is a popular spot for families with young children. It sits on the edge of Tauranga Harbour, beneath Mount Maunganui and is sheltered from the open ocean. This calm beach is great for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking and sunbathing. You can also enjoy the harbour views and cruise ships that dock in this bay. It is a perfect spot for families to relax and enjoy the great harbour scenery.
