Parents Support
There are many organisations and groups that you can contact for practical support, advice and resources.
Bellyful Tauranga
Bellyful is a nation-wide community service run by volunteers to provide meals for families with newborn babies or families with young children who are struggling with illness. Bellyful’s main criteria is simply that the families they support don’t have others available to do what they do – cook and deliver free meals.
La Leche League
La Leche League help mothers to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, education, information and encouragement. They hold regular informal discussion meetings for mothers and their babies. Meetings are based on the importance of mother-to-mother support and cover a wide range of breastfeeding related topics. Topics discussed at each of the meetings will rotate around pregnancy and getting ready for birth, getting to know your new family member, overcoming breastfeeding difficulties and nutrition and weaning. Any topics that are relevant to any mother at the meetings are welcome to be raised and discussed. Morning tea is available.
